This course will be devoted to a close study of a recent work in metaethics, namely Terence Cuneo’s book Speech and Morality: On the Metaethical Implications of Speaking (OUP, 2014). The format of the course is a series of seminars. Students are expected to participate actively in discussions and to have read the relevant text for each meeting. The course requirements are an oral introductory presentation and an essay of roughly 3000 words, to be submitted when the course is finished.
