The Stockholm Bioethics Centre was established in 2003. It is an integral part of the Department of Philosophy, Stockholm University, one of the great centres of academic excellence in philosophical ethics in Sweden.

Its mission is research, teaching and contributing to public debate on the most important bioethical issues of today. Studies in bioethics at the centre are undertaken from a philosophical perspective, and involve both research and teaching.
