The Stockholm Centre for the Ethics of War and Peace is funded by the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation. It is directed by Dr. Helen Frowe, and based in the Department of Philosophy at Stockholm University.  The Centre's remit is to explore the ethics of war in the 21st century, looking at how traditional just war theory - usually state-based in its approach - might be revised and improved in light of recent wars, the rise of terrorism, and more general shifts in the relationship between states and their citizens.  As well as considering issues surrounding just causes for war, the Centre will seek to enhance our understanding of 'post bellum' issues, including the use of amnesties, war crimes trials, and the duties of victorious parties in the aftermath of a conflict.

Through a series of conferences, workshops, public lectures and other events, the Centre will aim to inform and improve public and policy debates about the ethics of war.
