There are many organisations that create rankings of universities and research. 'QS World University Rankings' is one of the most ambitious rankings by subject level. Their ranking is based on a combination of four quantified variables: Academic reputation, Employer reputation, Citations per paper and H-index citations. Here is more information about their methodology.

 

In the overall ranking on subject level for 2013, Stockholm university is ranked in the group 50–100. For 'Citations per paper' and 'Employer reputation', Stockholm is ranked among the top 50 in the world.

Stockholm university is the only univeristy in Sweden to make it to the top 100 in philosophy.
